Access to participation in electronic games and sports activities should be a universal right for every individual, regardless of their gender, age, or social background. Unfortunately, in the Lake Tanganyika region, in the Fizi territory, east of the Democratic Republic of Congo, this issue is even stronger in this area. Girls are often excluded from these activities due to social and cultural biases that prevent them from accessing electronic games and other sports activities that are their fundamental rights.
- What are the views of customary power holders regarding the participation of young girls in video games, electronic games, and other sports activities?
- What do girls in this Lake Tanganyika coastal region think about customary restrictions and their parents' perceptions?
- What can be done to overcome these barriers and enable young girls to fully exercise their rights related to sports?
All these questions were the subject of a forum for popular expression organized by the organization Action des Volontaires d’Innovation pour le Développement, AVID in acronym in the city of Mboko in the territory of Fizi.
